It’s true! Since Nuovo became Sarasota’s first Aveda salon in 1986, we have committed to an eco-friendly business model that has grown stronger with every year. In 2015, after taking major steps in sustainable practices ahead of any other salon in the state, we were designated Florida’s Greenest Salons.

Every April, we at Nuovo devote all of Earth Month to fundraising for Captains for Clean Water, charity: water, Healthy Gulf, and other organizations committed to providing and safeguarding clean water for people and wildlife, both locally and globally.
But that is just the beginning! Here are the other steps Nuovo Salons have taken to earn our reputation as Florida’s environmental leader in the beauty industry:
- We are Green Circle Salons. That means 95% of our beauty waste (such as color tubes, hair color, used foils, etc.) are recycled and repurposed; i.e., kept out of Sarasota’s landfills and waterways. In 2020, our salons diverted 9,044 pounds of waste!
- Nuovo Salons were the first businesses in Sarasota (and one of the first in all of Florida) to become an EPA Green Power Partner in 2015, after switching to 100% wind-powered electricity.

- We are paperless and use eco-friendly lighting, plus environmentally conscious and sustainable furnishings provided by Eurisko Design.
- All water that touches our guests is filtered through reverse osmosis.
- Of course, as an Aveda salon, we only use and sell products that are non-toxic, cruelty-free, created from pure plant and flower essences, and now 100% vegan!
Every April our eco-friendliness kicks into high gear when we turn our attention to raising funds for clean-water nonprofits . . . . . and giving our guests multiple ways to participate in Earth Month activities. This year, you can join us in celebrating the earth by:
- Donating directly to charity: water through Nuovo Salons;
- Entering in the raffle for our Earth Month baskets (valued over $1,200). All proceeds go to charity: water;
- Purchasing an Aveda Earth Month Umbrella in-salon. All proceeds go to charity: water;

- Joining Aveda’s Earth Month RunWalk to benefit charity: water;
- Purchasing limited-edition Aveda Shampure Shampoo Bars or Discovery Sets of their most loved products (in-salon or at the link above) to benefit charity: water;
- Purchasing Aveda’s no-wash products (Rinseless Refresh, Heat Relief, Foam Reset and Shampowder Dry Shampoo) to skip the shampoo and save water;
- Donating directly to charity: water through Aveda.
Earth Month may be just 30 days . . . . but rest assured that we at Nuovo are packing every one of them with ways to help keep Sarasota, Bradenton (and the rest of the world) clean, green and abundant. To us, every day is Earth Day!
