Why Join (Or Stay Part of) The Nuovo Team?
At Nuovo, we tend to do things a little differently than the average salon. Because if we blend in with everyone else, we’re only going to attract employees who blend in — and that’s the last thing we want.
Nuovo Salons are made up of people who appreciate and fit our company culture, and want to make sure it stays strong within our team. Not only the team they work with on a daily basis, but other Nuovo employees working in other salon locations.
Nuovo’s “cultural concrete” is made up of foundational values we hold dear. Ongoing education. Environmental responsibility. Giving back to the community. Thoughtfulness and attention to detail that makes the difference between a good guest experience and a great one.
Learning the little details that make the Nuovo guest experience second to none.
One of the things that makes Nuovo different is the way we hand down our cultural values to new team members. Nuovo team members start their career in our Fresh Talent studio as they take Nuovo’s Fresh Talent training program. This is a beauty boot camp of sorts that brings licensed stylists up to a more advanced level in skills, expertise, product knowledge, and everything else it takes to be a top-tier stylist. Only when new staffers pass this course can they “graduate” and work in Nuovo's full-service salons.
Over time, we came to realize the traditional way of training new stylists in upscale salons — that is, keeping them apart from the rest of the team until they’ve graduated — was not working. While our Fresh Talent stylists were definitely learning advanced techniques in cutting, coloring, and styling, they were NOT learning the Nuovo culture. Around here, this is as important a part of being a Nuovo stylist as aptitude with scissors and blow dryers.
So we started rotating experienced team members into the Fresh Talent studio so they could work side-by-side with the newbies. This gives the new stylists a chance to learn Nuovo’s culture by observing, shadowing and monitoring their seasoned co-workers. When a colleague says, “That’s just not up to our standards — let me show you how we do it here,” it creates a powerful reinforcement of Nuovo’s values and what we expect from our team.

One of the biggest epidemics in leadership today is a lack of personal accountability. At Nuovo, we want team members to take on greater and greater responsibilities right from the get-go. Eventually, it becomes second nature for them to ask, “What is my role in this situation? How am I responsible for its outcome? Where am I delivering — or not delivering?” When new staffers really understand they play a key role in ensuring that ALL services and customer care at Nuovo salons meet our standards — they are well on their way to becoming a true part of the Nuovo culture. And, they continue to move up the Nuovo career ladder as they become a prestige stylist.
What’s another Nuovo cultural value? Teamwork. Everyone at Nuovo knows someone has their back and will help them if they need it. When your co-workers are asking you, “What do you need? How can I help you?” it is a level of reassurance and support that automatically translates into a good experience — both for you and for your guests.

Another cultural cornerstone we hold dear: coaching, mentoring, and practice, practice, practice! You’ll see our most experienced senior stylists taking advantage of down time to grab a mannequin head and practice something they recently learned. True education comes from practice. YouTube tutorials are great for information, but when you work with your hands, my dear . . . you have to actually use your hands!
We’ve built a fabulous extended family based on our company values and our culture — a culture that brings out the best in everyone so that we can offer the best to our guests. Want to be part of something bigger than yourself? Join the Nuovo team.
