I’m Back!

Well, after deservedly receiving fifty lashes with a wet noodle for neglecting this blog, I’m back and ready to fulfill my commitment! You see, like so many of us, I create the images of a huge elephant that I just can’t manage in the time I have available . . . forgetting the adage: What’s the best way to eat an elephant? . . . One bite at a time! So, once again, I remind myself that my vision for this blog was one of communication in an “unplugged” format . . . no rules, no formulas . . . If I shoot out one paragraph about something, so be it . . . and . . . the posts really can be closer than a year apart!

Moving on, it’s been a busy few months . . . I’ve been traveling for industry related education and experiences for four out of Feb/Mar six weekends.

I began with Neill Corporation’s (one of the largest AVEDA distributors) “Serious Business” weekend. Over a thousand beauty professionals gathered in New Orleans to listen to speakers and authors like Daniel Pink, Tim Sanders and Kathleen Turpel on subjects from “A Whole New Mind” to social networking and marketing . . . It was an amazing energy to be immersed in, and to top it all, it was the weekend the Saints won the pre-Super Bowl championship! . . . (The city was on fire with enthusiasm and excitement!).

A couple of weeks later I was in St Petersburg at the Don Cesar with my Busting Loose focus group for a coaching weekend . . . at the risk of using a frequently overused word . . . Amazing.

After that, off to Miami where I was one of ten hairdressers participating in a “powershoot” for for the Global Hair and Fashion Group. We were each assigned two professional models (mine were amazing young women from the Elite Agency, Miami), a makeup artist and a clothing stylist, all working together and shot by photographer Candy Shaw Codner. The stylists were the cream of the crop, all helping each other out as need be. Under the leadership of Candy Shaw Codner, owner of Jamison Shaw Hairdressers in Atlanta, a fellow Intercoiffure member and longtime friend; we had an absolute blast, coming away with some spectacular images which you’ll see soon in some of our promotional pieces.

And finally, another Busting Loose trip, this time to Santa Cruz, CA, by way of a couple of days of relaxation in San Francisco. This event was a retreat in Santa Cruz and suffice it to say it was around a new way to look at money and business . . . hung out and shared with some of the brightest characters on the planet . . . Loved it . . .
