The latest in brow and eyelash trends
When you look at beauty trends throughout the years, eyebrows have always seemed to oscillate between extremes. The full, feathered brows of the 1980s gave way to the super-tweezed, bass-clef shapes of the 1990s. Today, the "Instagram brow" . . .
When you look at beauty trends throughout the years, eyebrows have always seemed to oscillate between extremes. The full, feathered brows of the 1980s gave way to the super-tweezed, bass-clef shapes of the 1990s. Today, the "Instagram brow" . . . . . dramatically thick, contoured with strategically placed concealer, featuring gradient color toward the middle, and more often than not, microbladed . . . . . reigns supreme. But there are some indicators that the dramatic, overfilled look favored by the Kardashian clan is on its way out.
Eyelashes, the other beauty powerhouse, have gone through similar transformations. Remember not so long ago, when false eyelashes fell within the realm of pageant contestants and drag queens, and everyone else wore them for special occasions only? Today, it's not unusual to see false eyelashes stacked two and three sets high even during the daytime!
Given these extremes, it's only natural the pendulum would swing back toward a more understated look. And that's exactly what's happening. We're seeing full, natural, subtly enhanced brows and eyelashes that are yours . . . . . only better. (No glue or painful tattoos required, thank goodness!)
Brows: refined, not redrawn
A beautifully sculpted brow has the power to visually lift all your features. But that doesn't mean overdrawing your arch and coating on layers of dark gel. The latest trend is a brow that's full, but not artificial looking. To achieve the look, Aveda's Brow and Lash brush, included in the Flax Sticks Daily Effects Brush Set, is a useful tool to have on hand. Use it to brush the eyebrows into place, then fill them in using an Aveda Petal Essence Face Accent in a shade that matches your desired brow color. Finally, blend using the brush.
If you’re seeking a more permanent solution—but don’t want to endure a painful procedure—we recommend trying RevitaBrow. It’s formulated to condition and strengthen brows, protecting them against breakage and brittleness. Best of all, it’s easy to apply—just swipe on after cleansing using the targeted applicator—and it fits right into your makeup bag.
A perfect tint
More and more individuals aren’t limiting color just to their hair. Bleached and rainbow brows made appearances on Fall 2017 catwalks. If your tastes veer more toward the conservative, simply ask your colorist to tint your eyebrows to match your hair the next time you come in for a touch-up.
A trick of the trade for gorgeous lashes
In recent years, false lashes have undergone an explosion in popularity and been the subject of much experimentation and creativity. (Everything from Technicolor-hued feathered lashes to light-up versions have had their moment!) But long, full eyelashes are a youth and fertility indicator that will never go out of style. Fortunately, we have a solution for that, too: RevitaLash. It’s an eyelash conditioner that contains a blend of biotin, green tea extract, peptides, wheat protein and ginseng to strengthen lashes and help them grow. The result is full, luxurious lashes . . . . . naturally.
That’s our brow and lash forecast . . . . . and frankly, my dears, we’re all too happy to embrace the less-is-more aesthetic. Are you on the same page? Let us know in the comments . . . . or come by our Sarasota or Bradenton locations and test-drive the trend!
